Oxana Lundström. teaching, analysing, making things happen
I have worked for various tech and science startups and as a researcher in academia. I have learned to combine the best of the two worlds. I bring startup engineering mindset to science and scientific rigor to data analysis for business.
I also enjoy sharing my passion for creating awesome things with code so I teach programming and data science and love mentoring aspiring engineers and analysts.
What I do
My current focus is computational biology applied to medical research. I'm in the final year of my PhD at Stockholm University and currently investigating the role of short tandem repeats (STRs) in colorectal cancer. Our goal is to identify cancer risk variations in STRs, which will then serve as additional information for patient risk stratification and therapy-response prediction.
Some of my previous projects and initiatives are described below:
Computational Biology
2021 Validating mucin level prediction in colorectal cancer tumors with RNA expression, paper in Modern Pathology
2017-2018 Investigating relationship of protein tandem repeats and intrinsic disorder, paper in Genes
2015 – 2021 Stockholm International Swimming Club Co-founded the international swimming school for adults in Stockholm, obtained state funding for "Vattenstart" - program for asylum seekers.
2015 Volunteering for 3 months in South Africa with CTEET
